Garner, who studied fiction writing at UNA has always had a passion for writing. Garner wrote the short stories that make up her new book over a period of many years.
"My book was a long time coming," said Garner. "To say I had a plan would be a lie too big to tell with a straight face."
Released on Nov. 1, Undeniable Truths is a work that is rich in Southern hospitality, feeling and charm that puts family at the heart of each of its stories. Garner wrote each story at different periods in her life as she raised her family and built her career.
While Undeniable Truths is Garner's first book to the published, she has published literary criticism on Southern women writers as well as short fiction since the 1970's.
"The 12 stories are told with grace, wit and a hearty knack for surprise," said Michelle Richmond, a native of Mobile, Ala., and winner of the Associated Writers Program Award for short fiction. "These are wise, warm stories with an unmistakable Southern sensibility."
Garner's new book is a compilation of short stories that Southern audiences can identify with and find pleasure in reading.
"I hope readers will be entertained and reminded of stories they have heard and learned from," said Garner. "And maybe feel inspired to spin a tall tale themselves."
Undeniable Truths can be ordered through www.amazon.com for $14.95.
