Adderall, the miracle drug?

But where does it stop? I hear meth keeps you up too, are college kids going to start doing that next?

Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. Maybe I'm being hypocritical. But when I hear that 12-year-old kids are starting to get their hands on a synthetic form of cocaine, I start to worry. I have two little sisters, and the thought of that being available to children sickens me. Obviously their hearts aren't developed enough to handle anything like that.

I don't want to sit here and preach or lecture, I'm the last person to have that authority. I personally think Adderall should be legalized as an over-the-counter drug. I haven't read any studies so far that should suggest otherwise. In the words of Kat Williams, Tylenol is over-the-counter and made to help people, but if you take 13 of them, "it'll be your last headache".

All drugs have the potential to be dangerous. Even Viagra can work so well it can kill you.

With that being said, I'll end with a hypocritical, but true, statement. Adderall came out in 1996; people were studying and making good grades before then. Think about that.

The problem is using Adderall does not allow you to develop proper habits - getting enough sleep, eating properly, and studying in a quiet location. For those who do not NEED Adderall, it's just a crutch. (Continued…)

I don't understand what your point is in this article. Yes it works and is extremely helpful in getting school work accomplished. Coming from a guy that is Rxed the drug I personally don't think it is anything like cocaine. (Continued…)

You are on the right track. But adderall is NOT related to cocaine. It is related to meth. It is a fed amine just like meth. That's why it's considered a "controlled substance". (Continued…)

I have the same problem at my school. But you are partially incorrect. Adderall and most of it's generics, counterparts, derivatives, etc. are not related to cocaine. (Continued…)

According to WEB MD, Adderall, when taken by people who don't have ADHD, has nine out of ten of the same side effects as cocaine and crack-cocaine, making them extremely similar, if not exact. (Continued…)

Wow, great editorial! I completely agree with you, and very nice on the research. A tad contradicting, but I know exactly what you're saying. Your newspaper must be proud to have someone like you on staff. (Continued…)
