Things got off to a wobbly start as the Lions lead was marginal at 23-10 after one half.
The second half was a different story as UNA scored seven touchdowns.
The win improved UNA's record to 8-1.
Offensively, UNA could not be stopped. Running back David McCants led the rushing game with three touchdowns. Quarterback A.J. Milwee threw two touchdowns as he completed 24 of 31 pass attempts. The backup quarterback, Dusty Goodwin, also contributed two touchdowns.
Senior receiver Jason Messing caught two touchdowns to give him the school record for most touchdowns in a career at 22.
Defensively the Lions gave up only 243 total yards. The purple swarm piled up five sacks for a loss of 21 yards.
The Lions possibly may have broken some sort of record by scoring four touchdowns in a time span of 1:44 in the fourth quarter.
The Wolves held the ball for 13:16 in the fourth quarter, coming up with no points.
Other than destroying their opponent on homecoming and getting a conference win, the Lions also moved up one spot to No. 2 in the Southeast region.
Delta State, which held the No. 2 spot barely squeaked by West Alabama 20-9. The close game persuaded the voters to push the Lions ahead of Delta State, especially since UNA has defeated Delta State this season.
The Lions can possibly receive a first round bye in the playoffs if they can defeat West Alabama this weekend.
The top six teams from each region receive spots in the playoffs while the top two receive byes.
UNA will host the West Alabama Tigers this weekend at 6 p.m.
The game will host Preview Day, so a large crowd is expected to attend.
