Global Culture Night set for Saturday

UNA's 5th annual Global Culture Night takes place this Saturday night at 7 p.m. in Norton Auditorium. It is a chance for different nationalities to come together and share an evening of culture, food, and music.
Not only will UNA students be participating in the events, but members of the Shoals and citizens from all across North Alabama.
According to Dr. Santanu Borah, performances of the evening include:
• a brass ensemble
• an African-American dance group known as Poza
• an Irish dance performed by Shoals Christian School members, as well as a praise song by Shoals Christian children
• a contemporary American dance performed by young, local girls
• a Chinese dance performed by ten UNA students
• a piano concert by Dr. Evan Ward
• a contemporary Indian dance, performed by UNA?students
• a dulcimer performance by Brooks Elementary students
• a performance by UNA's Ascending Voices
• the Global Friendship Organization's performance of "Our Dance"
• a local a cappella group named "Charisma"
• excerpts from The?Laramie Project by members of UNA's theater department
• a performance of Bhangra by a group from Huntsville
• a performance by a local belly-dancing group
• a Turkish dance
• an African dance.
At 9:30, the event will move to the Guillot University Center, where Mexican, Kenyan, and Indian food will be served. A dance will follow, and will last until midnight.
Also, a Global Arts exhibit will be on display in the art building. It focuses on religions around the world, and will be available for viewing throughout next week.
