After a day of work, class, clubs and homework, a student may wonder just where to spend time in Florence. People tend to flock to where they feel a sense of familiarity and common interests.

With the smorgasbord of groups and activities on campus and even more on the outside, it seems that everyone is looking for a place to belong.

Jesus Christ once said, "Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be."

A large number of students have found their treasure on Tuesday nights at The Well, an inter-denominational worship service geared toward college students in the Shoals.

"The Well is amazing. Tuesday night comes alive at Highland [Baptist Church] through word and fellowship. It's a place of worship and refuge for college students," said student Leah Ballard.

That feeling seems to have spread like wildfire over campus and town.

The Well began in November of 2002 with ten students and a guitar. The numbers escalated over the next three years to climax with 400 students at the end of April 2005.

James Moore, minister to students at Highland Baptist and speaker at The Well, points toward the desires in the hearts of students who attend as reason for growth.

"This is a place that is real, relevant and relational. The basic thread that runs through The Well is this: the students want to live by faith, be known by love, and become a place of hope for all," he said.

Looking out at the bright faces of 400 students with tests, jobs, and classes all sacrificing their time could lead one to believe that there may be more than doughnuts calling them to come and worship.

The Well meets at Highland Baptist Church on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. Access The Well online at http://thewell.highlandbaptist.com/.
