The baseball team split a double header with the Delta State Statesmen last Wednesday, winning game one 8-7 and losing the nightcap 7-1. The games were originally scheduled for Tuesday but were rained out. "[We must] keep addressing our defense and improve each game and continue to make adjustments at the plate," head coach Mike Keehn said.
Spring training started Monday, Feb. 22 for UNA football, and it has created much enthusiasm with the coaches, players and staff for the fall season. In the spring semester, football is not the first sport to come to mind, but for the Lions, it is one step closer to August with its victorious games and immense chemistry among the coaches and players.
Finally, it's time to start the games that everyone has been waiting for. Intramurals are underway and the anxiousness of the students who frequent the SRC is sky high. There are new teams with new students and new talent to pay attention to, but the old fans have nothing to be worried about.
The men's basketball team saw their run at a GSC championship end last Saturday during the semi-finals matchup against Alabama-Huntsville. The Chargers walked away with a 97-79 victory over the Lions. UNA finishes the season with a 13-16 record. Rory Miller scored 18 and Daviel Clements added 17 for the Lions.
