New parking plan proposes fee increase

A plan has been proposed to increase student parking fees to offset the cost of different approaches being taken to help UNA students with parking, SGA President Samuel Thigpen and University Chief of Police Robert Pastula said. One of the approaches in the attempt to improve campus parking by freeing up more funds will be changing from window decals to tags that will hang on the automobile's review mirror.

Downloading illegally could cost more than it's worth

Music industry sales dropped an estimated 30 percent in the last five years due to the availability of illegal downloading services, according to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). Most college students never question their own morality as they download songs and movies for free or make copies of CDs for friends.

University Health Services recognizes April as National Sexual Assault Awareness Month. UNA students rally for more state funding

On Thursday, March 4, over 100 UNA students, faculty members and the Pride of Dixie Marching Band departed for Montgomery to attend the annual Higher Education Day Rally. Higher Education Day is Montgomery's largest annual advocacy rally during which students from many of Alabama's public universities receive the opportunity to express their views on education and the various issues surrounding it.

New Bible study on campus

On Tuesday nights at 6:30 p.m. in The Wesley Foundation Chapel, a new non-denominational Bible study is being held. The Bible study is held on he second, third and fourth Tuesday of every month. "Students can come to a warm environment, where they can learn the truth about the Bible," said Kelvin Jones, one of the student leaders of the Bible study.

SGA election candidates meet, greet students

The Student Government Association (SGA) hosted the Meet the Candidates Forum on March 1 from 6-9 p.m. in the GUC Banquet Hall B, for this year's SGA officer elections. Students were given the chance to learn more information about the 2010-2011 SGA candidates.

UNA Collegiate Choir, Florence Camerata to perform Haydn's 'The Creation' together

UNA's Collegiate Choir will be performing Tuesday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m. Grace Church in Florence will be hosting the event. "This is the largest choir at UNA. It ranges between sixty and eighty-five voices," said UNA Director of Choral Activities Dr. Ian Loeppky.
