'Follow your dreams,' says UNA softball star

For outfielder Andrea Palmer, softball is more than a hobby or an extracurricular activity, it's a way of life. Her softball career began at the age of five playing Tee-Ball before moving to slow pitch softball. At the age of 10, her father introduced her to fast pitch softball, and she credits her parents with developing her desire for the sport.

Baseball sweeps Harding, splits with Montevallo

The Lions baseball team swept the Harding University Bison last Tuesday, winning game one 11-4 and game two 4-3. UNA split a double-header with the University of Montevallo Falcons last Wednesday, losing game one 6-1 but winning the nightcap 9-2. The Lions won three of the four games and outscored their opponents by a combined total of 25-10, but several errors and six runs on 11 Falcon hits prevented UNA from winning game one against Montevallo.

Pro sports compete for America's pastime

UNA basketball teams compete in tournament

Today will kick off the 2010 Gulf South Conference Tournament in Southhaven, Miss., and both UNA basketball teams will be competing. The women's team finished the season as the second seed from the East Division and the men earned the third seed. The women's team will match up against Harding for their fourth straight post-season appearance under Terry Fowler today at the DeSoto Civic Center.
