Elmo has undergone something of a metamorphosis in Japan. Sure, he still has his fuzzy red look, falsetto voice and hearty laugh in Japan's first local production of "Sesame Street.'' But unlike the Elmo loved by generations of American children, this Muppet wastes little time teaching reading or arithmetic.
The first store opened in the Capital Hill neighborhood Denver, Colo. in 1981. By 1994, the store was named a "hot concept" by Nation's Restaurant News, helping the emerging shop turn into a brand. By 2000, there were over 1,000 shops popping up in the U.

Concert pianist Dr. Roosevelt Newson, who is the vice president for academic affairs and provost for UNA, will be performing with the Shoals Symphony at UNA in "An Afternoon with Dr. Roosevelt Newson." Prior to his current career in higher education, Newson, who joined UNA in 2004, was a full-time concert pianist who was under managment in New York City.
The UNA Department of Communications and Theater presents the final production for the 2004-05 theater season entitled God's Man in Texas. Based on the original script written by David Rambo, God's Man in Texas is about a young pastor who embarks on a journey between the true meaning of Christianity and the commercialized church that is so prevalent on television today.
The UNA Lion Paws dance team took home first and second places overall in their division at the Applause Dance Competition in Birmingham, AL this past weekend. The team competed with a jazz dance to "Word Up" and a drill/kick line routine to "Teen Spirit," both choreographed by Angela Green.
