The University of Louisiana at Monroe invites everyone to attend its third annual signature event Wine Over Water Thursday, May 22 from 7 - 10 p.m. Guests may experience the tradition by strolling across the historic ULM Bridge spanning the scenic bayou beside the library while sampling wine and hors d'oeuvres from various local restaurants.

Student with shotgun on campus placed on University probation

A student who was charged with possession of a weapon on school property last month has been placed on probation by the University's Office of Judicial Programs.

University Police found a 12-gauge turkey shotgun in a white 2003 Chevrolet Silverado truck belonging to Jess Stuart McNeill, from Americus, in late April.

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas told graduating seniors at the University he wanted to be a Bulldog. But the nation's second black high court justice said he couldn't attend the school in his native Georgia because of lingering racial tensions in the South when he graduated high school in the late 1960s.

USI Board of Trustees postpones vote on same-sex benefits

The USI Board of Trustees decided May 10 to indefinitely postpone voting on a resolution that would provide insurance benefits to same-sex domestic partnerships.

The resolution - originally item K in the meeting's agenda - was addressed at the start of the meeting by board member Ted C.
